In the past few weeks, Sapir Hillel, with the help of dozens of students working under fire, began to collect essential humanitarian supplies for both sides of the conflict: for children in Sderot and Gaza-border communities, and also for children in the Gaza Strip. According to the tradition that "first you must care for the needy in your own city," we have sent dozens of deliveries of supplies to communities in southern Israel. In the same humanitarian spirit, this Thursday, January 22, 2009, we will send an aid shipment to children in Gaza.
We are running a humanitarian aid project for the residents and children of Gaza, because that's what Jews do, and because that's what our Jewish souls require of us. This is also what Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in his address to the nation when he proclaimed a unilateral ceasefire.
